Achievement Coaches (AC) provide literacy support to Y7 widening participation pupils. The AC training, and the use of an AC literacy toolkit, ensures they are able to tailor their sessions to the needs of the individual pupil. The literacy focus is intended to harness an enjoyment of reading in pupils to enable them to succeed at secondary school and support their attainment at GCSE. ACs follow the guidance of teachers and inspire, support, and motivate Y7 pupils’ learning while they raise awareness of opportunities in higher education.
