Here are our highlights from last week:
We welcomed Heritage High School at the University of Derby for a campus visit as the final part of the HE and Me programme. It was a fantastic day and Natalie and Tina Wakelin enjoyed working with the group, researching a variety of universities and answering all the brilliant questions.
Year 9s from Nottingham Academy also visited the University of Derby for our Key Stage 3 Skills Day. Learners took part in a variety of escape room challenges with Karolina and Hollie with one group emerging victorious and opening the safe! Learners also identified a whole range of transferable skills before reflecting on their own and how to develop them.
We gave an assembly to year 12 learners at the Pingle Academy just before they attended UCAS Discover – Nottingham. We hope our tips and tricks helped them get the most out of the day and set them off on their next path!
Year 10s at the Trinity Catholic School participated in sessions on employability and transferable skills and interviews and assessment centres as part of their work experience week. It was great to see them identify their current skills alongside those that they would like to develop for the future. They then practiced and developed those skills in interview and assessment centre practical tasks. Well done Trinity!
Tina introduced the HE & Me programme at Heanor Gate Spencer Academy with year 10 learners. We explored what is Higher Education, and some of the routes that learners could consider. We are back this week looking at routes and careers and then the learners come to the University of Derby for the final part of the programme and their campus tour.
Learners on the Pathways to HE Programme at Royal School School for the Deaf Derby took part in session 2, focussed on the pathways available to study at higher education. Natalie looks forward to welcoming this group on site at UoD later this week.

We welcomed learners back onto campus for Think, Reflect, Succeed. The group from Heritage High School had great fun breaking down different opinions and views while practicing their critical thinking skills and came up with some amazing research topics while focusing on how to research effectively.

Sixth formers at the Nottingham Emmanuel School completed their Learn to Work programme with a session on interviews and assessment centres. They took part in the tasks with enthusiasm and demonstrated great negotiation, reasoning and communication skills.
