Weekly Round Up 30/06/2025

Here are our highlights from last week:

Our Steps to Success programme visited Springwell Community College, where all of year 10 participated in the Post 16 Routes and Pathways session with Natalie.

We had a fantastic final day with our Future Leaders Derby learners. We kicked off the day with a University of Derby campus tour and a session on university and career pathways delivered with Oscar Eche. The afternoon started with an inspirational keynote from former England Netball Captain Pamela Cookey, followed by a powerful panel discussion featuring Pamela as well as Luke Williamson and Catherine John-Baptiste. The young people impressed us with the thoughtful and insightful questions they asked the panel and it was wonderful to have the panel chaired by one of the group. We concluded the programme with a celebration event where parents and/or carers were invited to share the achievements of our fantastic Future Leaders class of 2025!

Natalie went to the Royal School for the Deaf to talk to the Post-16 learners about T Levels and the opportunities these courses could offer.

Emma and Monica attended the Derby Inclusion Partnership Conference 2025 to present on how the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Boys’ Impact Hub can support schools to implement the Taking Boys Seriously principles. A really powerful event with a range of fantastic speakers and workshops all demonstrating the power of collaboration when it comes to inclusion. The highlight of the day had to be the live performance from the Inclusion Choir featuring pupils from local schools, reminding us all of the impact that inclusion work can and does have.
