This programme has been designed to imitate a large-scale project that learners would plan and carry out. If your school would like learners to plan and manage a real event such as a charity week etc. then please let us know.
Lead the Way

Lead the Way aims to equip young people with a variety of project management skills.
Learners will learn about leading and managing projects, and what it means to be a part of a project team. They will practice and develop a range of transferrable skills such as teamwork, communication and critical thinking.
• Years 12 and 13, and Level 3 • Maximum 30 learners
• Five 1 hour sessions • Delivered in school

Introduction to Project Management
Learners will audit their current skills and qualities and reflect on how these could support a team. They will be introduced to project management in general and the project they will be planning throughout the programme.

Teamwork and Communication
This session focuses on developing teamwork skills through practical team building and communication activities. Learners will learn about project proposals and begin to develop their own.

Project Proposals and Project Management
In this session, learners will continue to develop their project proposals and utilise techniques such as SWOT analysis, GANTT charts and other project management tools. They will prepare to present their final proposals to the rest of the group.

Presentations and Evaluation
During this session, groups will present their finished project proposals to the class. They will also discuss how to evaluate a project and the importance of reflection once a project or piece of work is complete.

Reflection and Next Steps
In this session, learners will reflect on the skills and qualities they identified in the first session and evaluate how they have developed these skills over the course of the programme. They will practise how to reference their skills and qualities in jobs and HE interviews, using the
STAR method to structure their answers
