What are Higher and Degree Apprenticeships?
This session will introduce university level apprenticeships, consider the benefits/drawbacks of higher and degree apprenticeships and their similarities and differences to other higher education courses.
-
Identifying Skills and How to Apply
Learners will work to identify and discuss the key skills that employers are looking for, gain an understanding of their own skills, and how to relate this for future job applications. We will start to look at the application process and consider how learners can use the STAR technique for their applications and interviews.
-
Scaffolded Applications
Building on the previous session, learners will to learn to identify the key facts from job descriptions within a specific industry or career, before starting to write their own applications for these roles, considering their own skills and experience and how that matches the job description, while being supported by DANCOP staff.
-
Interviews and Assessment Centres
This session explores the possible post application process by discussing interviews and assessment centres alongside online tasks and test. Learners will learn what an assessment centre involves by trying out activities and practising interview skills and techniques to support the typical recruitment process.
In addition to the above, we offer bolt-on sessions covering, what to expect after a successful interview, handling rejection and forming a plan B, and mock interview, assessment centre and application support. We are also able to incorporate any of our Get Ready sessions into the Learn to Work programme to suit your learners’ needs.
