Weekly Round Up 06/05/2025

We hope everyone enjoyed their break! Here is our round up of our activity last week:

Tina, Natalie, Samara Lemon and Omoye Esangbedo welcomed learners from Springwell Community College for a campus visit at the University of Derby as part of the HE and Me programme. It was a great day and we were very impressed with the engagement from the learners, well done!

We had a brilliant Day 1 of our Future Leaders programme at the University of Derby Markeaton campus on Wednesday. We welcomed learners from Lees Brook Academy, Da Vinci Academy, Alvaston Moor Academy, The Bemrose School and Sixth Form, Allestree Woodlands School and Landau Forte College Derby! Nathan Addai from Mental Roots delivered an inspiring workshop in the morning which focused on a sense of belonging, challenging negative stereotypes and mental health in the Black community.

We then moved on to some imaginative and thought-provoking proposals in the afternoon from learners about what they would like to see in their schools and local areas to challenge issues and help overcome barriers. It was an amazing day and we cannot wait to welcome the learners back for Day 2 in a few weeks and to start the Nottingham programme next week!

Meanwhile in Derbyshire, Natalie Smallwood visited the Parkside School in to deliver an assembly on Post-16 routes and pathways.

We’re looking forward to the upcoming delivery and projects planned for our learners in the Summer term!
