Weekly Round Up 11/11/2024

Here is our activity round up from last week:

We welcomed year 10 learners from the Da Vinci Academy to the University of Derby for the first Think, Reflect, Succeed of the academic year. Learners did a fantastic job at engaging in all the workshops and asked some thoughtful questions to our brilliant student ambassadors on the campus tour.

At The Bulwell Academy, year 10 started the Steps to Success programme with an addition of a HE pathways session. It was great to talk about their future ambitions before we focus on the skills they need to get there.

We returned to Buxton & Leek College where learners from Health and Social Care and Construction pathways took part in a ‘Planning your HE Pathway’ session. Natalie was impressed with the engagement and questions from the learners and the research they had already done into their options!

At the Becket School learners took the first steps on their revision journey with Karolina as part of our Prepare to Succeed programme. We talked about revision techniques and how they currently feel about revision, with the goal being to turn those feelings around by the end of the programme!

Karolina also introduced the Learn to Work programme at Quarrydale Academy, where year 13 learned about the difference between higher and degree apprenticeships and university.

Learners also on the programme at Christ the King Catholic Voluntary Academy took part in session 3 of the learn to work programme with Natalie, which was focussed on employability and transferable skills. Learners looked at different HADA opportunities in the local area and matched their own skills to the opportunities. A fab session, well done everyone!

Karolina also attended the Never Such Innocence Roadshow at Bishop Grosseteste University to see some fantastic Service pupils express their thoughts and reflections on war and conflict through powerful poetry and art. Thank you to LINCHigher for the invite!

We finished the week with the Steps to Success programme at Parkside School with Natalie. Year 11 learners were introduced to the programme and had their first session focussed on Metacognition. A great end to the week, well done to the group!
