Here are our highlights from last week:
We started the week at the Royal School for the Deaf Derby for a post-16 pathways session with Natalie, where learners began planning their own pathways for the future. It was great to hear about all of the ideas learners had for their future careers!
Natalie then visited Heanor Gate Spencer Academy, where she ran an additional mock interview session to compliment the Learn to Work programme she has ran for the past four weeks. Natalie was really impressed by the learners maturity and fantastic interviews, it was definitely a highlight of this half term!
Karolina and Natalie visited Springwell Community College where learners focused on perfecting their project management techniques and project proposals. They did an excellent job completing a SWOT analysis for their projects!
Tina visited a year 11 careers and parents/carers event hosted at Shirebrook Academy. Some excellent conversations with learners and the parents/carers about next steps, routes, going to university and careers.
Our Learn to Work programme visited Christ the King School led by Natalie, where learners took part in a session focused on CVs and applications. Natalie was impressed by the learners’ discussions around what to include on a CV.
Aimee visited Nottingham Emmanuel School for week three of our Get Ready programme and a session on revision and exam preparation. The learners shared the revision techniques they currently use and tried out the story method to generate some fun and interesting stories to help with memory recall.
We finished the week with the Year 11 Life Skills Day at Outwood Academy Kirkby where Karolina ran communication workshops with the learners. Learners enjoyed various teamwork games and had a chance to work on their persuasion skills, which complemented the confidence, resilience and pathways sessions ran throughout the day.
