Looking back on last week, here are our highlights:
We started the week with our last Get Ready session at Christ the King Academy where Karolina talked through student finance and Year 13 had a chance to take on a budgeting activity. There was a lot of discussions of what is a want or a need, and learners looked at different student accommodation options to fit their budgets. We wish them the best of luck in their HE journey!
Natalie and Matthew introduced the Lead the Way programme at Kirk Hallam Community Academy, looking at the foundations of project management and skill development!
We finished the Learn to Work programme at The Dukeries Academy, where we discussed different types of interviews and learners took on the challenges of an assessment centre. They also had a chance to practise what they learned in 1:1 mock interviews and Karolina was super impressed with all the experience they included— especially when they talked about the previous programmes they completed with DANCOP.
We visited Springwell Community College where learners on the Steps to Success programme focused on revision. Natalie was very impressed by the song that was written and performed to the group by a student in the class to be used as a revision technique, well done!
At Nottingham College High Pavement campus, learners completed mock assessment centre activities and discussed the potential interview process for Higher and Degree Level apprenticeships. It was great to hear about some of the vacancies learners have applied for and we wish them all the best with their future applications!
Learners at The Bulwell Academy took part in week three of the Prepare to Succeed programme. They explored different revision techniques and Aimee and Matthew were really impressed to hear about the methods they already use. We are looking forward to seeing the revision timetables they come up with in the last session next week!
We finished the week supporting a parents evening The Farnborough Academy where it was great to have the opportunity to chat to parents, carers and their young people about future options.
We hope everyone has a restful break and we can’t wait to see you all in the New Year!
