Weekly round Up 21/07/2025

Here are our highlights from last week:

Our Steps to Success programme visited Park Vale Academy, where Year 10 took part in an intensive two days of transferable skills sessions. It was fantastic to hear different stories to remember information through the story method, and we heard some very creative answers to our critical thinking conundrum of a zombie apocalypse.

Hollie visited at the Nottingham Emmanuel School with some of their Year 12 learners where they completed the Lead the Way programme.

We visited Year 12 at Nottingham Academy with our Learn to Work programme as part of their Futures Week. Learners were great at finding the differences and similarities between apprenticeships and #university and did well at forming their interview answers using the STAR technique.

Karolina also visited the Ripley Academy for a session about resilience with Year 12. We discussed stress, self-care and they had a go at a few different resilience techniques, before setting themselves a resilience resolution for the next year. Check them out below!

Tina and Natalie welcomed Year 10 learners from Heanor Gate Spencer Academy on campus for the HE and Me programme. They took part in a tour of the Kedleston Road Campus with University of Derby Student Ambassadors. The Learners worked in small group to provide some fantastic research into different universities around the UK, and then shared this with the rest of the group. The day finished with a Q&A session where learners asked a range of questions related to university life, student finance, routes and pathways, and applying for university.
