Weekly Round Up – 25/03/2025

Looking back on last week, here are our highlights:

Karolina started the week at Newark Academy for our Get Ready programme, where year 12 focused on time management. It was interesting to hear what techniques they already use before introducing new ones, such as the Eisenhower Matrix.

Learners at Nottingham College Clifton All Whites took part in their final Learn to Work session with Hollie. Learners looked at different interview settings from assessment centres to panel interviews and how to best prepare for these.

Tina Wakelin went to Chesterfield College to deliver our Get Ready – Revision and Exam Prep session to some of the first year A Level students ahead of their upcoming mock exams.

The DANCOP team also spent a large portion of the day trial running one of our new Key Stage 3 programmes, taking the shape of an escape room. They took part in a variety of challenges, some more physical than others, and practised communication, teamwork and time management. Winners were crowned, and now we’re excited to see whether learners taking part in the programme in the future can beat their record!

Tina introduced the HE and Me programme at Springwell Community College where learners took part in our HE and Me Programme. This was the first session and looked at ‘What is Higher Education?’ and the benefits. Natalie also introduced the HE and Me programme at Parkside School. Great engagement from both schools and we are looking forward to going back to both schools on Wednesday for the second session about Routes and Careers and then welcoming them to the University of Derby Kedleston Road campus for a full day to complete the programme in April.

At The Samworth Church Academy, year 12 learners continued the Lead the Way programme. We looked at project management techniques, including work breakdown structures and GANTT charts. We’ll see them next mid-May, after they’ve had a chance to carry out their projects!

At Bluecoat Aspley Academy learners engaged in the HE Pathways sessions throughout the day with Hollie and Aysha, learners explored different options available to them after their GCSEs and beyond.

Tina and Emma visited the Frederick Gent School for a drop-down day with year 8 learners. We focused of skills with the students and looked at communication, teamwork and time management. Some great engagement and work from the learners across the three sessions.

We finished the week at Farnborough Spencer Academy with our Prepare to Succeed programme where year 10 worked on reflecting on their own revision skills, their revision journey and concluded the sessions with learning the story method. Very exciting to see some learners create poems to remember facts and processes!
