Here are our highlights from last week:
At the Becket School, learners on the Prepare to Succeed discussed different revision methods to consider which might be the most effective for them personally. They talked about the methods they used already and reflected on how these new methods may support their revision moving forward.
Karolina spent the day at Quarrydale Academy working with year 11 on mock interviews. Lots of variety in aspirations, and it was nice to see the steps they’re taking toward those future careers. It was also great to chat with a few familiar faces from previous DANCOP programmes!
Natalie introduced the Learn to Work programme at Derby College, where learners reflected on their current knowledge on higher and degree apprenticeships (HADA) and learned lots of new things too!
Learners also on the Learn to work programme at the Nottingham College High Pavement Sixth form considered the different ways to apply for higher and degree level apprenticeships and discussed how using LinkedIn could benefit their applications and careers moving forward. Aimee also ran a UCAS personal statement surgery for those applying to university/college this year and saw some really well written and thought-out personal statements.
It was our final session of the Learn to Work programme this week at Christ the King School with Natalie. We discussed everything interviews and assessment centres, and learners took part in a mock assessment centre activity.
Karolina visited two schools to deliver a session from our Learn to Work programme. Year 13 at Quarrydale Academy considered their transferable skills and how to include them in future higher and degree apprenticeships, while year 13 at The Dukeries Academy discussed the difference between HADA and traditional university routes.
We finished the week with our Steps to Success programme at Parkside Community school with Natalie. Learners took part in a Critical Thinking session and Natalie was so impressed with how the learners made their carefully considered arguments during the activity, well done!
