We’ve had a busy week delivering across schools and colleges! Here are our highlights:
We started the week at Nottingham College delivering our HE Pathways session, discussing university and higher and degree apprenticeships as possible next steps. Learners had a chance to ask questions and took the opportunity to understand in detail what apprenticeships entail. We also went back to deliver the sessions all day on Thursday and Friday, ensuring all year 12 learners had a chance to discuss their options and seek advice about personal statements.
Learners Heanor Gate Spencer Academy took part in session 3 of the Learn to Work programme, focussing on employability and transferable skills with Natalie.
We had our first Lead the Way session at Springwell Community College with Karolina and Natalie where year 11 were introduced to the projects they would be planning, all while working on their teamwork, problem-solving and leadership skills. They were eager to get started, and we’re excited to continue the programme next week!
Tina visited Heritage High School where year 11 learners participated in mock interviews and delivered some great answers. Tina also presented a short assembly to year 8 students, introducing them to higher education – the start of the information journey to support learners find out about different pathways and options for their future.
At Christ the King Catholic Voluntary Academy, year 12 learners had their first session of the Learn to Work programme with Natalie, learning key information about higher and degree apprenticeships and doing some myth busting! Natalie is looking forward to working with this group over the coming weeks and learning more about their individual plans for the future.
Tina finished the week Parkside Community School, where year 11 learners took part in a full day workshop with Steve Bicket from Human Utopia. DANCOP provided the funding for this workshop. An inspiring and incredible day to witness. The engagement from the learners was brilliant, and we are looking forward to working more with these students over the coming year. Thank you so much to the team at Parkside, Steve from Human Utopia and all the students. A fantastic way to finish the week.
