Weekly Round Up – 31/03/2025

Here are our highlights from last week:

Tina delivered at both Springwell Community School and Parkside Community School, the second session of our HE and Me Programme. Learners at both schools took part in the Routes and Career Pathways session exploring different career paths and the qualifications needed to succeed in these careers. A wide variety of careers were explored at the two schools’, and it was exciting to see the enthusiasm and ambition of the learners’ taking part in the programme.

We welcomed learners from The Bolsover School at the University of Derby, where they concluded the HE and Me programme. They took part in the Researching Universities session which involved the students working in small groups to research different universities and the present back what they had found out about each individual university. They explored courses, entry requirements, student accommodation, clubs and societies, sporting activities on offer as well as famous alumni and other interesting facts. Students then had a tour of the University of Derby Kedleston Road campus with Matthew and Samara, followed by a Q&A session, which covered a wide range of topics including student finance, UCAS and applications. Great group of students who have been fantastic across the HE and Me programme. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Learner information post on the Travel and Tourism industry.

Level 2 learners at The Nottingham Emmanuel School Sixth Form practiced their skills in a mock interviews session which we were delighted to support. It was lovely to hear about their future plans and support them in reflecting on their skills and experiences.

We finished the week at The Ripley Academy for a Drop-Down Day. Year 9 learners took part in 2 DANCOP sessions – Critical Thinking with Matthew and Careers and Industries with Aysha. Some great work across both sessions. Year 10 learners spent the afternoon with Talk the Talk and took part in the Talk About Communication programme which was funded by DANCOP.

We hope our learners have a restful break and we look forward to seeing them in the Summer term!
